This is a classic Obis French carriage clock.
Carriage clocks were made by the thousand between about 1880 and 1910 in St Nicolas d’Aliermont, near Dieppe. They are of a standard size with virtually similar movements, and are known by their size – Obis (short for zero bis, or double zero, 00). They don’t usually have a makers mark or name, or a date, so most are described as c1900.
The condition is very good – the dial is clean, but there is some tiny damage to the top left corner, and all the glass is good. It has a cylinder escapement and is a classic Obis clock in good working order.
